Ultimate Mining Tycoon Mining Vehicles Update (v0.5.0)
Drill vehicles, Prestige rebrand, Obsidian, and factory balance — plus follow-on patches to v0.5.13.
The Mining Vehicles Update landed as v0.5.0 on 21 March 2026 and reshaped Ultimate Mining Tycoon from a walk-and-mine factory tycoon into a vehicle-driven logistics game. Innovation Inc. (developers madattak and Rolijok, Roblox place ID 18680867089) added four drill vehicles, rebranded Rebirth to Prestige, introduced Obsidian mining gates, rebalanced key factory machines, and rewrote factory internals. Follow-on patches through v0.5.13 (20 April 2026) refined prices, saving, and vehicle physics while the game crossed 71M+ visits.
This page deep-dives the headline patch and every vehicle-related follow-up. Hub overview: Updates Hub. Gameplay guides: Vehicle Logistics, Vehicles Tier List, Endgame Factory.
v0.5.0 headline features (21 March 2026)
Drill vehicles added
Four new spawner options joined five existing cargo haulers:
| Vehicle | Launch cost | Capacity | Drill stats | Role |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mini-Muncher | ~$180,000 | 36 | 60% / 88% pickaxe | Entry tunnel drill |
| Power Drill | ~$600K (later $800K) | 48 | 90% / 93% | Mid-game drill |
| Exa-Drill | ~$6M (later $8M) | 120 | 100% / 100% | Endgame hybrid |
| Minekart | 4 Medals | 12 | 58% / 88% | Prestige novelty |
Drill vehicles chew stone and ore while driving. Stats scale from your equipped pickaxe — Equipment Reference and Pickaxes Tier List still matter at endgame. Full stat tables: Vehicles Reference.
Cargo haulers unchanged in v0.5.0: Quadbike (free, 8), Cargo Quadbike ($1K, 16), Minidumper ($5K, 32), Mini-Truck ($20K, 56), Super Crawler ($200K, 180).
Quality-of-life mining changes
- Instant enter/load when approaching vehicles near mined blocks.
- Ore names display even when pickaxe strength is too low — players see what to upgrade toward.
- Mine collapse timer shown on-screen (100-minute shared mine timer unchanged).
- Minimum mining time pushed toward 0.08s floor with high pickaxe tiers and prestige Pickaxe Speed.
- Mobile explosive placement fixed — explosives no longer place when unequipped.
- Factory system internal rewrite; complexity cap adjustments followed in subsequent patches.
Prestige rebrand (same patch)
v0.5.0 renamed systems without changing core math:
| Old term | New term |
|---|---|
| Rebirth | Prestige |
| Souls | Medals |
| Hardness | Strength |
Prestige threshold remains $20M cash; 3 Medals unlocks at $80M total prestige earnings. New prestige upgrade: Starting Money (+$250/level). Fixed bug where ores persisted incorrectly after prestige.
Full medal shop and upgrade priority: Prestige and Medals.
Obsidian introduced
Obsidian blocks appear in deeper mine layers and cannot be broken by pickaxes or drill vehicles. Players must use explosives from Madattak’s Dynamite Shack or factory Explosive Maker late game.
Obsidian gates certain Underworld paths and forces explosives investment alongside vehicle upgrades. Clearing guide: Explosives and Obsidian.
Machine balance (v0.5.0)
Factory processors received a simultaneous balance pass:
| Machine | Before | After v0.5.0 | Layout impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| Laser Maker | 150% bonus | 175% bonus | Stronger side branch |
| Engine Factory | 100% bonus | 150% bonus | Viable mid-end sell path |
| Filigree | 10% bonus | 20% bonus | Situational polish boost |
| Blast Furnace | -20% penalty | -10% penalty | Still pays via stone throughput |
| Ore Smelter | — | Stops if stone not removed | Requires overflow routing |
| Gilder | Display bug | Shows 50% correctly | UI fix only |
These values remain current through v0.5.13. Endgame Factory layouts should still prioritize fed Power Core Assembler chains over Laser-only branches, but Laser Maker became a legitimate secondary income source.
Follow-on patches (v0.5.1 – v0.5.13)
Vehicle-specific fixes
v0.5.1 — Fixed character physics staying active while seated in vehicles.
v0.5.4 (22 March 2026) — Economy rebalance:
- Exa-Drill raised to $8,000,000 (from $6M).
- Power Drill raised to $800,000.
Budget Exa-Drill purchases against Mid-Game Progression factory income, not raw mine cash alone.
v0.5.7 (28 March 2026):
- Vehicle Power prestige upgrade now reduces air resistance — Super Crawler and Exa-Drill accelerate faster per level.
- Exa-Drill exit clipping fixed — players always spawn inside the vehicle on exit.
- Machine animations decoupled from server state — debug belts by item icons, not spinning visuals.
v0.5.8 (8 April 2026):
- Exa-Drill image added to Vehicle Spawner menu — new players find drill tier faster.
- Client-side seat exit rewrite — fewer stuck-in-mine teleports.
v0.5.10 (10 April 2026) — Fixed teleport-to-vehicle when resetting character while seated.
Factory save fixes (vehicle-adjacent)
Vehicle hauling only matters if factory state persists:
v0.5.5 (26 March 2026) — Factory items save between sessions; Ore Unloader contents redirect to Ore Recovery on load.
v0.5.12 (19 April 2026) — Factory saving made immediate instead of queued — fixes outputs sliding back to inputs on rejoin.
v0.5.13 (20 April 2026) — Fixed items re-appearing after manual factory load (clear + rejoin no longer resurrects old outputs).
Players running Super Crawler (180) or Exa-Drill (120) dumps depend on these saves — a 180-item belt backup on disconnect was a pre-v0.5.5 nightmare.
Other v0.5.x highlights affecting miners
- v0.5.5 — Musgravite and Painite depth extensions; money display rounding fix ($1.99M no longer shows as $1.00M).
- v0.5.8 — Splitter state saved between sessions; gradual mine loading for smoother joins.
- v0.5.9 — Rhodium color restored; polisher/recolor stacking fix.
- v0.5.13 — Uranium/Plutonium/Unobtainium infused-to-bar color persistence.
How the update changed meta
Before v0.5.0, endgame was walk-mining with Unobtainium Pickaxe and backpack runs. After v0.5.0:
- Super Crawler ($200K) became mandatory for serious factory feed rates.
- Exa-Drill ($8M) enabled tunnel-mining while hauling 120 slots at full pickaxe drill stats.
- Obsidian forced explosives alongside vehicle investment.
- Prestige rename clarified Medal economy for Minekart (4 Medals) and prestige machines.
- Smelter stone clog punished layouts that ignored stonework branches.
