Ultimate Mining Tycoon Factory Layout Guide
Design jam-free processing chains from ore unloader to sell point.
Your factory is the profit engine of Ultimate Mining Tycoon. A sloppy layout jams belts, wastes complexity (cap 4,000), and caps income long before you afford prestige. A clean layout multiplies ore value through 30+ machines without stalls. This guide teaches spatial discipline used by top players running Power Core and Superconductor chains at endgame.

Layout principles (memorize these)
1. Straight lines beat clever shapes
Route conveyors directly from machine output to the next machine input. Avoid long connector detours, S-curves, and parallel merge lanes early. Every extra tile is a jam point where bolts, bars, and frames pile up.
Bad pattern: furnace → long horizontal connector → vertical connector → stamper offset three tiles away.
Good pattern: furnace → stamper → sell in one row, colinear.
2. Complexity is a hard budget
Each placed part consumes complexity. Decorative belts and unused machines steal capacity from future Power Core Assembler ($4.5M) installs. Before placing, ask: Does this belt move product toward a sell point? If no, delete it.
3. Unloader is the heart
All mine income enters through the Ore Unloader. Undersized unloaders bottleneck Super Crawler (180 slots) and Exa-Drill (120 slots) dumps. Upgrade unloader throughput and belt width before buying larger vehicles — see Vehicle Logistics.
4. One product per spine (early/mid game)
Run separate parallel spines only when each has dedicated input ore types. Mixing Tin and Titanium on one belt without sorters creates chaos until you afford advanced routing.
Starter layout (Tin → cash)
[Unloader] → [Furnace] → [Stamper] → [Sell Point]
Leave two tile gaps between machines for belt upgrades. Mirror horizontally across your plot center so expansion goes left/right symmetrically.
Mid-game layout (multi-machine)
When adding Circuit Maker, Electromagnet, and Alloy Maker:
| Stage | Machines | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Smelt | Furnace | Accepts raw ore |
| Form | Stamper, Press | Bars → plates |
| Alloy | Alloy Maker | Combines metals |
| Electronics | Circuit Maker, Electromagnet | Needs upstream plates |
| Advanced | Superconductor Constructor | High value output |
Stack stages in process order, not purchase order. Buying Power Core Assembler before furnaces stay fed produces nothing.
Gem branch (parallel spine)
Gems from Mine Layers need jewelcrafting machines — separate from metal spines. Route gem unloader output sideways from your main metal row:
[Gem Input] → [Gem Cutter] → [Polisher] → [Sell Point]
Gem values spike late game; starving this branch wastes depth hauls.
Late-game layout (Power Core chain)
Endgame targets Power Core Assembler with 2.5× sell multipliers on finished cores. Typical spine:
- Ore unloader splits by type (manual dual unloaders if needed).
- Furnace banks smelt high-tier ore (Titanium, Iridium).
- Alloy and superconductor stages run parallel before converging at assembler.
- Multiple sell points on final output — never one narrow belt for $25M runs.
Consult Machines Tier List for machine priority.
Common jams and fixes
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Bolts stuck on corner | 90° turn too tight | Replace with straight segment or widen turn |
| Machine idle, belt full | Downstream slower than upstream | Add sell capacity or second parallel processor |
| Unloader backlog | Vehicle dump > unloader speed | Upgrade unloader; widen input belt |
| Random ore in wrong machine | Shared belt mixing types | Split spines or mine one ore per trip |
| Complexity cap hit | Too many decorative parts | Delete non-functional conveyors |
Multiplayer factory etiquette
Shared servers mean shared mine, separate plots. Do not build into neighbors’ space. Coordinate ore priority if friends trade processed goods verbally — the game does not support cross-plot belts.
Prestige and layout persistence
Prestige resets machines and cash but keeps Medals and prestige purchases like Ore Upgrader. Your mental layout template survives resets — screenshot good designs. After prestige, rebuild the same straight spine faster with Starting Money upgrades from Prestige Upgrades.
The Ore Upgrader (3 Medals) transmutes any ore one tier higher, changing optimal layout inputs — plan a flexible unloader split.
Build mode tips
Controls for rotate, delete, and snap are in Controls. On mobile, zoom out before placing long belt rows. PC players benefit from grid-aligned placement along plot edges.
Testing checklist
Before leaving for a mining run:
- Watch one ore travel unloader → sell without stopping.
- Dump a full vehicle load — belts should clear within seconds.
- Check complexity meter — leave 500+ headroom for patch new machines.
- Confirm sell points accept final product (not intermediate bars stuck upstream).

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Why do my conveyors keep jamming?
Usually caused by unnecessary connector belts, tight corners, or downstream machines slower than upstream production. Use straight lines and add sell capacity.
What is the complexity limit?
4,000 parts per plot. Every machine and belt tile counts. Delete decorative conveyors to free space for endgame assemblers.
How wide should my unloader setup be?
Upgrade unloader size and output belts before buying Super Crawler or Exa-Drill. Match throughput to your largest vehicle dump.
Should gems and ores share one belt?
Not early game. Run a parallel gem spine with jewelcrafting machines to avoid type conflicts and jams.
Does prestige delete my factory layout?
Yes. Prestige resets machines and cash. Keep screenshots or rebuild from a proven template; Medal upgrades persist.
Which machine should I add first?
Furnace and Stamper on a straight line from the unloader. Advanced machines only after upstream stages stay fed continuously.
