After your first Prestige and Medals reset, prestige machines become the real power spike in Ultimate Mining Tycoon (Innovation Inc., v0.5.13). Do not buy Nano Sifter before Ore Upgrader on your first 3 Medals. A 1-Medal sifter cannot replace a full tier upgrade.
Ore Upgrader (3 Medals)
Place before the furnace on a dedicated ore belt. Example: Aluminium ($65) becomes Silver-tier ($150) instead of a flat 1.25× bump. Works through the ore ladder up to the Mithril upgrade ceiling — Mithril does not promote further.
Factory impact: your Mine Layers target depths shift. Shallow hauls with Upgrader often beat deep raw mining until Underworld Unobtainium.
Philosopher’s Stone (3 Medals)
Infuses ores with gold for a 1.25× value multiply. Cannot stack twice on the same ore. Best sequence:
- Ore Upgrader
- Philosopher’s Stone
- Cleaner / Smelter spine
Buying Stone before Upgrader wastes Medals on a smaller absolute gain (65×1.25 = 81 vs 65→150 tier jump).
Nano Sifter (1 Medal)
Upgraded dust sifter. Regular Sifter ~10% low-tier ore; Nano ~16.6% after v0.5.4 with a wider ore spread. Dust can be sifted once — resifting the same piece yields nothing.
Buy when your factory already produces stone/metal dust and you own Upgrader + Stone. Pair with Factory Chain Reference overflow routes.
Transmuters (4 Medals each)

Duplicator (8 Medals)
Late prestige machine. Doubling dust and sifted ore throughput compounds Nano Sifter value; flat bonuses (cleaners, etc.) can apply twice on split paths. Expensive — unlock after Upgrader, Stone, and usually both Transmuters unless your layout is dust-first.

- Parallel gem spine or Gem-to-Bar into the metal line
- Dust overflow → Nano Sifter → back into Upgrader if ores spawn
- Keep complexity under 4,000 — prestige machines still count
