Plot and Build Mode

Your plot is the only place in Ultimate Mining Tycoon where cash becomes throughput. Innovation Inc. developers madattak and Rolijok (Roblox place ID 18680867089, 71M+ visits, live v0.5.13) give each player a private 30×30 build zone with 100 units of vertical build height and a hard 4,000 complexity budget. Everything you place — machines, functional conveyors, splitters, unloaders — lives here until prestige wipes cash-purchased upgrades. This guide covers plot rules, Build Shop purchases, unloader scaling, output belts, factory save slots, and the soft-lock that traps players on full servers.

Pair with Factory Layout for routing philosophy and Controls for platform-specific build bindings.

Plot basics (8 players × 30×30)

Each server hosts eight plots arranged around the hub. When you join, the game assigns an empty plot or lets you pick from open slots. Your plot is yours until you leave the server.

Plot statValue
Footprint30×30 tiles
Build height100 units
Complexity cap4,000 parts
OwnershipPrivate — no cross-plot belts
Max players8 per server

Neighbors share The Mine and shop NPCs but cannot use your Ore Unloader, spawn your vehicles, or edit your machines. Multiplayer etiquette: keep belts inside your boundary. Full co-op rules: Co-op Multiplayer.

Build mode tools

Enter build mode from the HUD while standing on or near your own plot. You cannot place factory parts on hub roads, inside The Mine, or on another player’s land.

ToolFunction
BuildSelect machines or belts from the Build Shop and place on grid
DeleteRemove selected parts; refunds vary by item type
MoveRelocate placed machines without repurchasing
RotateTurn belts and machines to align inputs/outputs

Build mode is how you install everything from starter furnaces to Power Core Assembler chains. If placement fails, check proximity to your plot — walking too far from the grid disables build tools. Mobile players should zoom out before long belt rows; PC players benefit from grid-aligned straight spines.

Build Shop overview

The Build Shop opens inside build mode and lists every factory part you can buy with cash (or Medals for prestige exclusives). Categories include metalwork, stonework, electronics, jewelcrafting, logistics (belts, splitters), and prestige machines after your first reset.

Key purchase philosophy:

  • Buy throughput (unloader, belts) before exotic processors.
  • Every tile counts toward 4,000 complexity — decorative belts steal endgame capacity.
  • Machine recipes and costs: Machines Reference.
  • Shop NPC locations around the hub: Locations and Shops.

Ore Unloader upgrade table

All mine income enters through the Ore Unloader. Undersized unloaders bottleneck Super Crawler (180 slots) and Exa-Drill (120 slots) dumps — upgrade before buying larger vehicles (Vehicle Logistics).

LevelThroughput (items)Cost
112Free (tutorial)
236$1,000
3108$20,000
4162$400,000
5216$8,000,000

Level 2 is the first meaningful jump after tutorial hauls. Level 3 pairs with Mini-Truck (56) and early mid-game. Level 4–5 matter when Super Crawler dumps arrive every few minutes. Budget unloader upgrades in the same cash band as vehicle purchases — a $200K crawler into a level-1 unloader wastes both investments.

Output belt upgrades

Unloader throughput is only half the equation. Output belts carry processed goods from machines to sell points. Widen them as factory value increases.

Belt tierCost
1Free (starter)
2$100,000
3$1,000,000
4$5,000,000

Narrow output belts create visible backlogs: furnaces idle while sell points starve. Match belt tier to your highest machine output rate. Splitter routing details: Splitters and Belts.

Aesthetic belts vs real conveyors

The Build Shop sells two belt-looking items that confuse new players:

  • Functional conveyors move ore, bars, bolts, and finished goods between machines. These consume complexity and participate in throughput.
  • Unloader aesthetic belts (and similar cosmetic pieces) decorate around the unloader but do not transport items. They look like real belts but are visual only.

Placing aesthetic belts instead of functional conveyors produces factories that appear connected yet process nothing. When debugging jams, verify every segment between unloader and sell point is a real conveyor, not decoration. Delete cosmetic pieces if you need complexity headroom for endgame assemblers.

Automatic Vehicle Unloader (229 Robux)

The Automatic Vehicle Unloader (AVU) costs 229 Robux and automates dumping vehicle cargo into your unloader without manual interact prompts. Important ownership rules:

  • Persists across sessions and prestiges once purchased.
  • Bound to your plot — other players on the server cannot use your AVU.
  • Pairs best with Super Crawler and Exa-Drill high-volume hauls.

F2P players manually interact at the unloader — slower but free. Robux value analysis: Robux and Game Passes.

Complexity budget (4,000 cap)

Every machine, functional belt tile, splitter, and unloader segment adds complexity. The meter displays in build mode UI. Hitting 4,000 blocks new placements until you delete parts.

Complexity discipline tips:

  • Run straight spines, not maze connectors.
  • Delete unused experimental machines before adding Power Core chains.
  • Aesthetic belts still cost complexity even though they do not move items — remove them first.
  • Endgame factories often run 3,500+ complexity with minimal slack.

Factory save slots (3 slots)

v0.5.x factory save rework added three save/load slots for your plot layout. Use them to snapshot proven designs before risky experiments or before prestige rebuilds.

Save/load rules that matter:

  • You get 3 factory save slots per account.
  • Loading requires ownership — if a saved layout contains machines you no longer own (pre-prestige save loaded post-reset), those parts do not spawn until you rebuy them.
  • Ores in unloaders and belt buffers may route to Ore Recovery on certain load events — check recovery buildings after loading old saves.
  • v0.5.12–v0.5.13 fixed items re-appearing after manual loads; if outputs duplicate, clear and rejoin once.

Screenshot layouts as backup — save slots are convenient but not a substitute for documented designs.

What prestige resets on your plot

Prestige at $20M+ cash resets most plot progress:

ResetsPersists
CashMedals earned
Cash-purchased machinesPrestige machines (Ore Upgrader, etc.)
Unloader cash upgrade levelsRolijok stat upgrades
Output belt cash tiersAVU (229 Robux)
Standard Build Shop partsXXL Backpack (399 Robux)
Pickaxes, cash backpacksFactory save slot files (but loaded machines need repurchase)

After prestige you rebuild unloader level 1 → 5 and output belts from scratch unless you saved cash for fast repurchase. Plan rebuild order: unloader level 2–3 before vanity machines. Medal math: Prestige Calculator.

Soft-lock on full servers (8/8 plots)

When all eight plots are occupied, new joiners may soft-lock: you spawn in the hub but cannot claim a build plot. Build mode stays disabled because you have no owned grid.

What to do:

  • Rejoin a different server via Roblox server list.
  • Enable friend-only servers if you play in a group — guarantees plot availability.
  • Wait for a player to leave — plots free instantly on disconnect.

Soft-lock is not a bug — it reflects the 8-player cap. Innovation Inc. has not added plot-less spectator mode. Avoid starting tutorial steps on a locked character; switch servers first.

Plot planning checklist

Before leaving for a mining run:

  1. Unloader level matches your largest vehicle dump.
  2. Output belt tier clears full loads within seconds.
  3. Complexity meter shows 500+ headroom for future machines.
  4. No aesthetic belts masquerading as functional conveyors.
  5. Save slot updated if you changed layout significantly.

Your plot is finite space with infinite ambition — upgrade the unloader first, belt second, and treat complexity like a bank account you cannot overdraft.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How big is each player plot?

Each plot is 30×30 tiles with 100 units of build height and a 4,000 complexity cap. Eight plots exist per server.

What are the Ore Unloader upgrade costs?

Level 1 is 12 items free. Level 2 is 36 for $1K, level 3 is 108 for $20K, level 4 is 162 for $400K, and level 5 is 216 for $8M.

Do aesthetic unloader belts move ore?

No. Aesthetic belts decorate around the unloader but do not transport items. Use functional conveyors for all machine connections.

How many factory save slots exist?

Three save/load slots. Loading a save requires you to own every machine in the layout — missing purchases simply do not spawn.

What happens if I join a full 8-player server?

You may soft-lock without a plot. Rejoin a different server or wait until a player leaves and a plot opens.

Does prestige reset unloader cash upgrades?

Yes. Cash-purchased unloader levels and output belts reset on prestige. Robux AVU persists, and prestige machines like Ore Upgrader remain.
